Anaphylaxis

Anaphylaxis, or Anaphylactic Shock:
  • Is a severe, systemic, potentially fatal allergic reaction
  • Can occur suddenly and/or up to four hours after exposure to as little as a minute trace of the allergen
  • Can trigger a biphasic reaction minutes to hours after the initial reaction subsides
  • May cause the affected individual to experience one or more of the following symptoms, to name a few: swelling (lips, tongue, throat, airway, face, and/or extremities), fearfulness, trouble breathing, hives, itching, drop in blood pressure, loss of consciousness, choking, coughing, sneezing, vomiting, cessation of breathing, vertigo, nausea, death

epinephrine
